Wingwomen to Open Its First Medical Practice in Boston

Wingwomen to offer gynecological care, coaching, and doula support for women from preconception to perimenopause.

Wingwomen, a tech-enabled FemHealth start-up that champions reproductive healthcare and fertility education for Gen Z and Millennial women, will open its first brick-and-mortar location in South Boston this fall.

Wingwomen has expanded its service list to include an array of gynecological services ranging from infertility counseling to screenings for Endometriosis, Uterine Fibroids, and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).  The new service list provides access to virtual and in-person care for Gynecology, Family Planning, postoperative Pelvic Floor therapy, and Health Coaching for teens and women from preconception to perimenopause. The decision to include a brick-and-mortar location was made after consistent public outcry from women who have vocalized their frustration with lengthy diagnosis timelines, and the declining faith in healthcare providers to believe women when they report pain associated with their reproductive health.

“We’re living in a time and age where young women, and women in general, are becoming more confident about discussing pain and abnormalities associated with their reproductive health. Some women have felt their pain was dismissed or misunderstood by their physician, and others have had to live without a diagnosis for extended periods of time, which in some cases, contributed to infertility later in life,” said Adonica Shaw, Wingwomen Founder & CEO. “When we decided to develop a brick-and-mortar location, we considered a lot of social feedback around conditions like Endometriosis, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, and Uterine Fibroids, and we ultimately determined these services would be best managed through in-person interactions. We feel there is a unique opportunity at this moment to rebuild trust between patients and providers. By meeting in person and taking the time to build a rapport and take in-depth health history, we can transform the way women are experiencing reproductive healthcare, and possibly reduce their time in crisis.

“This is what women's health care should look like, said Wingwomen board member, Linda D Bradley MD. “Wingwomen's mission and vision are captured in providing timely, knowledgeable, professional consultations in most common health concerns facing women: evaluation of uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and polycystic ovarian syndromes.  Patients will enjoy the office ambiance and expert consultations from the healthcare team at Wingwomen Boston office.”

Wingwomen has received venture capital from StartUp Health and  Jumpstart Foundry to fund its operations and the new location. They will start accepting appointments for the Boston practice in late summer 2023.
