Wingwomen Virtual Care is Officially Open - Celebrating the Significance of Day One

Our founder Adonica Shaw reflects on her experience developing the company over the last two years.

Today as Wingwomen reopens its webside team, I’m taking time to reflect on how we arrived at this moment. And for as excited as I am, I have to say, there’s something bittersweet about new beginnings.

On one hand, you’re enthusiastic because you’ve ended one chapter of your life, but on the other, you’re back at the bottom of the proverbial totem pole. So although you’ve crossed over into a chapter of newness and elation, you’re also a tad nervous because right at the brink of a new reality.

I liken it to having a new baby.

Adonica Shaw Postpartum ( 2017 )

This photo was taken a few days after I came home from the hospital in 2017. My face is still fluffy from Preeclampsia, I’m exhausted and I’m holding my son Aiden. Get a good look because you may never catch another postpartum photo of me floating around on the internet, lol.

My kids, (who are now 6, 11, and 14) were by my side, and although I was happy to be home and fairly prepared as a mother two times over;  here I was again right at the beginning of a new chapter, but with a totally different birth story and perspective on health care.

Much like today.

Today marks a momentous occasion as I tearfully announce the grand reopening of Wingwomen, an advocacy-first start-up dedicated to providing access to virtual and in-person gynecology, family planning, health coaching and doula care. We are here to advocate for and provide support in the realm of reproductive health for women and birthing people. Just as life itself is a journey filled with new beginnings, our venture embodies the spirit of embarking on uncharted territories with courage, determination, and conviction.

At Wingwomen, we understand that navigating the path of reproductive health is both a personal and collective endeavor. We acknowledge the challenges, the triumphs, and the transformative power that comes with choosing to start anew. This venture is not merely a business; it is a celebration of life, resilience, and the profound commitment to driving a positive impact.

Data reveals that a commitment to advocacy and lived experience not only enhances patient care but also fosters a community that thrives on shared knowledge and support. By weaving these values into the very fabric of Wingwomen, we aspire to create a sanctuary where individuals and families find solace, guidance, and a community that understands the unique challenges they face.

As we launch Wingwomen, we invite you to join us in this celebration of life, resilience, and the courage to forge new paths. Together, let us nurture new beginnings, break down barriers, and stand as a testament to the transformative power of choice and support.

Thank you for being a part of this monumental occasion.

We look forward to creating a future where every journey through the reproductive health life cycle is met with compassion, understanding, and unwavering support by The Wingwomen.
